Street Cones work across Scotland with people facing adversities, focusing on those in care or at the edge of care, and those caught in the justice system and/or at risk of criminal justice sanctions. Within this diverse group, Street Cones has developed an approach which is particularly geared for vulnerable individuals and those at risk of progressing into offending and anti-social behaviour.
Through learning from lived experience and constructing a path to change through the Arts, we achieve positive outcomes for individuals. We believe it’s not what you have done, it’s what you can become.
The delivery team is unique in that it is formed of individuals who have experienced the criminal justice system and/or the care system, working alongside creative Arts professionals. Street Cones engages empathically with individuals who are not involved with other services. Street Cones believes the Arts can be used to give people who are marginalised a voice to educate others, believing real stories are the most powerful platforms from which to change lives.
The organisation empowers individuals through the development of communication skills, confidence and self-esteem and gives vulnerable people access to mainstream education, arts and training opportunities. Street Cones participants engage in positive life enhancing creative activities as a route to learning and self-development; a rehearsal for life.
